Rugged Tanto - 55 cm - Medieval Merchant

The Rugged Tanto from Epic Armoury is a 55 cm long weapon, inspired by feudal Japan. Its single-edged straight blade spans 37 cm and is designed for optimal slashing and piercing abilities. This Tanto is intended to be used in close combat in combination with a katana or wakizashi. The Rugged Tanto is constructed from soft EVA foam and coated in a thick layer of protective latex. Each dagger is hand-painted and textured to resemble steel and brass. The rectangular crossguard safeguards the 15 cm ergonomic grip wrapped in leather cord. The pommel is crafted as a flexible ring, allowing you to attach small trophies or ribbons to match your house colours. The leather cord continues up the blade to create a short ricasso. To ensure safety, this Rugged Tanto was built around a solid fibreglass rod core with a flexible kevlar tip to prevent punctures. Regular maintenance of the latex finish is necessary to maximize its durability.

Maintenance

All latex-coated weapons need a certain degree of maintenance. For this we recommend using maintenance silicone, which can be purchased separately in the LARP Accessories section. Epic Armoury Maintenance Silicone is an easy spray-on application, 100% pure and acid-free making it safe to apply. We recommend using Maintenance Silicone on a regular basis. It maintains the latex-coat’s flexibility and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product wear and tear resistant.

Store your latex weapons flat or on its pommel--NEVER on its tip. Use a simple sheet or towel lining to prevent it from touching a plastic or rubber surface to prevent your weapon from adhering to other products. Keep your weapons in a cool, dry environment.
